Here are the teams that look good on paper as of today. Cal State – Fullerton has the best combination of pitching and defense in the nation, with the possible exception of Texas. Texas is not listed here because both their batting and slugging are ranked in the 200s.

Clemson, while competitive in 3 of the 4 categories, falls woefully short in the most critical – fielding – as the Tigers have slumped to an 80th rating there.

Team Record Fielding ERA Batting Avg Slugging
Cal State – Fullerton 36-13 9 4 71 110
LSU 38-14 20 26 90 34
Mississippi 37-15 29 13 79 120
Virginia 37-10-1 31 3 15 46
East Carolina 37-15 28 24 16 13
