ACC Tourney Preview

Posted by cuorange on May 20, 2009

Pool A

Team ACC Record Fielding ERA Batting Avg Slugging
Florida State 19-9 152 56 76 24
Georgia Tech 17-10-1 92 52 55 11
Miami 18-12 114 36 147 99
Boston College 13-15 53 67 102 85

Pool B

Team ACC Record Fielding ERA Batting Avg Slugging
North Carolina 19-10 48 5 135 103
Clemson 19-11 61 4 136 141
Virginia 16-11-1 41 3 19 55
Duke 15-15 4 62 141 144

In Division A I pick Georgia Tech to win the pool and advance to the championship.

Division B is a tougher pick. Virginia has better numbers across the board, but the question is how much of that was built on an incredibly weak non-conference schedule? The Cavs are also in somewhat of a tailspin lately, adding further fog to their profile. With that said, they have fared fairly well in the ACC, though they haven’t played Clemson this year. The pick here is Virginia and how they perform will provide some insight into my regional picks next week.

The predicted winner of the championship is Virginia over Georgia Tech.
