Tigers edge Tar Heels 4-3 in 11 innings

Posted by cuorange on May 23, 2009

Clemson (40-19) finally won a close game beating North Carolina 4-3 Saturday to finish the ACC Tournament at 1-2.

After a single and throwing error put Clemson’s Mike Freeman on second base with one out in the 11th, North Carolina elected to walk the bases loaded.  The strategy appeared to have a good shot of working as Kyle Parker struck out looking on a 3-2 count for the seond out.  Wilson Boyd then singled to left field to score Freeman and give the Tigers the victory.

Graham Stoneburner (6-3) pitched a scoreless top of the 11th to pick up the win for Clemson.
