Practice notes from August 6 and 7

Posted by cuorange on August 8, 2009

Stories from TigerNet, Charleston News and CourierClemsonTigers.com and another from TigerNet for August 6.

The highlights look like this:

  1. The receivers looked good, with Marquan Jones and Dwyane Allen being specifically mentioned by Dabo.
  2. Dawson Zimmerman and Richard Jackson both had good days punting, with hang times in the 4.6 and 4.7 range.
  3. Jacoby Ford and J.K. Jay were held out again.
  4. Chad Diehl lined up as the blocking back in goal line situations with Rendrick Taylor (265lbs) carrying the ball.
  5. Malliciah Goodman may see the field this year, even with an abundance of talent at DE.
  6. Swinney is still searching for a long snapper to back up Matt Skinner.
  7. Tajh Boyd making early progress at QB.

For August 7, we have stories from the Greenville News, Charleston News and Courier here and here.

The upshot of these articles are:

  1. The Tigers depth chart changes daily, unlike being cast in stone in previous years.
  2. The quarterback battle between Willy Korn and Kyle Parker is heating up.
  3. C.J. Spiller is showing leadership.
