Monday practice notes + Tuesday presser

A 90 minute practice on Monday was highlighted by who was wearing what color jersey.  Only two players were limited by injury, Xavier Dye and Dalton Freeman.  Yes, that means Jacoby Ford practiced.  Call me a skeptic, but I believe Ford’s injury has the potential to linger.

Swinney said his team was intense and paid attention to detail.

Tuesday’s press conference was more of a “state of the union” address by Swinney as he responded to questions about every facet of the preseason, personnel and program.

Swinney mentioned that barring something unforeseen Richard Jackson will be the placekicker on Saturday, while Spencer Benton will handle kickoff duties and Dawson Zimmerman will punt.

Swinney also mentioned that he feels better about his offensive line and cited the fact that the line is working on technique at this point of the year, where as last year at this time they were still trying to figure out their responsibilities.  We’ll see how this unfolds during the season, but I believe this is an awful thin offensive line and if injuries come into play, which they inevitably do on the line, the Tigers could struggle.

Swinney also mention WR Brandon Clear as someone who the “light has gone on” for recently and mentioned that the Tigers are going to need both Clear and Xavier Dye.  Dye is not 100% because of a hamstring injury.
