Post game thoughts

Posted by cuorange on September 5, 2009

Pretty much what I pictured.  An ugly offense, a good defense, and….special teams.  Let’s face it, 43 yards after the first quarter and 177 at the half is not great against MTSU.  Add the timeout called at the 5:50 mark of the first half and you begin to wonder.

One pass to the TE (incomplete), no passes to Spiller.  Jamie Harper looks much better in short yardage than R. Taylor except late in the 4th.

Ellington looked sharp.

5 FG attempts should tell you something and it ain’t good.

No passes to Spiller would be because he was hurting I would imagine. What I would say is that the offense had a of kinks to work out and I think they were solid. The receivers started catching the ball later on in the game which is encouraging. Ford had a big game which is what Clemson will need this year. Just look at the scope of the ACC today, an ugly offense, good defense team could win this thing so cheer up! lol

LOL..the d was solid for the most part..but…CJ didn’t catch one pass while he was in…you think the o was solid? take away the 14 ST points and you’ve got 23…

Ford dropped at least two..wouldn’t call it solid (look at Dabo’s comments).

I will say this Parker was solid. Bullets. 8/19 is a distorted picture of what happened. Easily could have been 11 or 12 of 19…

I guess my point is that it is week one, MTSU isn’t terrible, and you had a new offensive system to install. It could have been a whole lot worse. The play that I absolutely loved that you would not have seen with prior Clemson QBs was that Parker scramble and throw to Harris for the TD. Parker is a playmaker and what about Korn? That kid just catches no breaks whatsoever.

Parker’s scrambling almost brought me to climax. Read above…I said it wasn’t his fault. I agree on Korn.

      On the other hand…the OL..the drops…yikes…

We have some playmakers…man, I loved the way Ellington looked runing the ball…reminds me of spiller as a freshman…
