Efficient Tigers

Posted by cuorange on October 19, 2009

You don’t need to look at this post to know the Tigers had their best offensive day of the season last Saturday.  Even with the empty possessions in the 4th quarter the Tigers averaged 2.53 points per possession.  That’s the difference between touchdowns and field goals and nothing says efficiency like 38 offensive points with 24 minutes and 3 seconds of possession time.

The Ellington fumble cost the Tigers another shot at points and let’s hope that’s not a trend developing as he also fumbled against BC allowing the Eagles to mount a short drive for their only points of that game.

Offensive Efficiency

Opponent TD FG Punts TO Downs Half Possess Points OE
MTSU 2 3 3 2 3 1 14 23 1.64
Georgia Tech 3 2 6 2 2 0 15 27 1.80
Boston College 0 6 5 3 1 1 16 18 1.13
TCU 1 1 5 0 4 0 11 10 0.91

Wake Forest 5 1 6 2 0 1 15 38 2.53
Totals 12 15 31 10 12 3 83 129 1.55

On the defensive side the Tigers gave up only 3 points on 14 Wake possessions, which is a slightly better showing than the BC game.
